While studying music she performed as a chorus member and soloist with many ensembles including the Indiana University Opera and The African American Choral Ensemble.  She has also traveled to New York to perform Mendelssohnʼs Elijah at Carnegie Hall under the direction of world renowned baritone Sherill Milnes.

Stephanie and her family moved to Murfreesboro , TN in June of 2002. Since then she has taught music in Murfreesboro City Schools and Rutherford County Schools . "Reason Enough to Sing"

What is a massage rhyme? Well, so glad you asked sweet momma' cause I'm gonna' tell you. It's massaging your baby to the beat. Try this chant. Sing-song it slow and preferably with a southern accent. "Round and round the garden went the teddy bear, one step, two step, tickle you under there!" During the round and round, you circle your baby's little bare tummy three times. During the one-step, two-step, you climb your way up his side and during the "tickle you under there", you give him a fun little tickle! Now, the important thing is to make eye contact and to massage to the beat. Think about it. So you're an infant. You can't talk. You can't sit up. You can only take in all the love and then take in some more. An infant may not be able to grasp the concept of rhythm intellectually, of course. But put your hands on that little body and sing and massage to the beat and he gets it. He just gets it. You are literally getting the rhythm into his little body and he is eating it up. Look into his big brown eyes all the while and you both turn to mush. And it doesn't get any better than that. Not to mention it makes for an enjoyable diaper change, and is great for a tummy ache!
On a scientific note for all you Mozart mommas, the songs you are singing to your little ones at home are helping to develop language skills, as repetitive words lay down speech patterns and build confidence, and action songs aid coordination and memory. So keep singing! Like our Hendersonville MwM mommie Gaynell Payne says: record labels may not knock on your door, but you will have a captive audience of one. And that is reason enough to sing!

My mom is a neverending song in my heart of comfort, happiness, and being. I may sometimes forget the words but I always remember the tune.
